Tamilnadu Govt Awards; Abdul Kalam award, Kalpana Chawla Award
The Chief Minister gave
away Abdul Kalam award, Kalpana Chawla Award, the Chief
of the Good Governance Award, Award for doctors who serve people with
disabilities, the award for the best social worker, young scientist award, the
award for the best performing local bodies, that includes awards
from 14 category during the 70th Independence Day celebrations
after delivering her Special address at Fort St George in Chennai.

APJ Abdul Kalam award
Tamilnadu Chief
Minister J Jayalalithaa presented APJ Abdul Kalam award to the
PrincipalScientist P Shanmugam, Central Leather Research Institute
–Chennai, for meritorious services in the Higher Education Department in the
state.
- The award comprising a certificate, Rs five lakh cheque and eight gram gold medal.
Kalpana Chawla Award:
The Kalpana Chawla Award
which is given for Courage and Daring Enterprise was bestowed toJayanthi
from Namakkal District. The award carries Rs 5 lakh cash,
certificate and gold coated medal.
Other Awards:
- The Chief Minister’s Best Practices Award –Thanjavur District Collector N Subbaiyan and Superintendent of Police Mayilvahanan.
- Best Corporation Award — Dindigul Corporation
- Best Municipality — Pattukottai Municipality (First Prize), Perambalur Municipality (second prize.)
- The State Youth Award which carries a certificate, Rs 50,000 cheque and a medal given to K Masha Nazeem in the women’s category and P Ruban Santhosh took in Men’s category.
- Award for solid waste management in rural areas —Tamil Nadu Municipal Administration and Rural Development Minister S P Velumani and Rural Development, Principal Secretary, Hansraj Verma.
- State Revenue Minister R B Udhayakumar, Revenue Department, Prinicipal Secretary, B Chandramohan — For online patta transfer.
