PM launches #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a campaign through which people can send their Diwali greetings and messages to the soldiers to boost their morale.

  • The messages can be sent under the #Sandesh2Soldiers campaign on the Narendra Modi App, through MyGov.in, and also through All India Radio. PM Modi will be leading the campaign.
  • Public broadcaster Doordarshan to express their solidarity with the forces, Doordarshan will be devising programmes around people’s messages to soldiers.


‘One India’ concept push for ease of business

The Centre, in collaboration with State governments, plans to introduce a ‘One India’ concept, the biggest and the most comprehensive ‘ease of doing business’ initiative so far.
  • Under the ‘one-form-one-portal’ model, aimed at attracting huge investments, the processes will be simplified to an extent where investors will need to fill only a single e-form for investing and doing business anywhere in India. 
  • Currently, firms are mandated to complete multiple forms at the Central and state-levels, and it gets more complicated as each state has different requirements and regulations.


Power Grid's board approves investments of Rs1,184 crore
Power Grid Corporation has said that its board has approved three proposals to invest Rs1,184.45 crore in power transmission projects across the country.
  • The proposals included augmenting the transformation capacity in the southern region, sub-station works in Vemagiri in Andhra Pradesh, and a transmission system for Ultra Mega Solar Park at Tumkur in Karnataka.


President inaugurates Sardar Patel Heart Institute at Ankleshwar
President Pranab Mukherjee has inaugurated the Sardar Patel Heart Institute at Ankleshwar in Gujarat.
  • He also unveiled the statue of Sardar Patel situated in the institute premises and is scheduled to deliver an address at the institute in a short while.


Ban on mobile phones at Cabinet meetings
Union Ministers have been asked not to carry mobile phones at Cabinet meetings.
  • The move assumes significance as security agencies have raised doubts over the security of mobile phones which are prone to hacking.




Tawang Festival in Himachal pradesh
Tribal women dance during the Tawang festival, near the India-China border, in Arunachal Pradesh. 
  • The three-day festival, which aims to promote tourism and showcase the culture and traditions of Tawang, in particular, and the State, in general, will conclude on October 23(Today).
  • Tawang Festival was introduced in 2012 as a tourism festival after celebration of Buddha Mahotsova since 2004.


AP-Singapore tie-up for financial sector growth
The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) and the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) on Saturday forged an understanding for the establishment of a Centre of Excellence and marketplace for Singapore-based startups in the financial technologies (FinTech) space at Visakhapatnam.
  • As per the agreement, the GoAP will create infrastructure for the companies proposed to be set up by MAS in the port city.


Rajasthan promulgates ordinance for new OBC panel
The  government in Rajasthan has promulgated an ordinance for constituting a new Other Backward Classes (OBC) Commission.
  • Recently, Rajastan High Court ordered the dissolution of the previous one because it was not backed by legislation.


India's first startup magazine launched
The Cofounder launches itself as India's first startup magazine that will help boost the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the country through its stories.
  • The Cofounder, founded by Adhish Verma and Arunraj Rajendran, is the first startup magazine that will talk about real stories behind the early stage startups and entrepreneurs.


Mehar Mittal, legend of comedy in Punjabi movies, passes away
Veteran Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal, who acquired legendary status with his comic roles, passed away at Rajasthan.
  • Mittal has been a well-known face in Punjabi movies for over four decades. 
  • He worked in more than 100 movies and ruled the small screen too.

India beat Iran 38-29 to win their third successive Kabaddi World Cup.
  • Ajay Thakur was the star performer claiming 12 points in the final.
