November 26 Celebrated as Constitution day
The Government has decided to observe 26th November as
'Constitution Day From 2015 onwards to honour our Constitution
and its promulgation.On the day in 1949, the constitution was adopted
which came into force on January 26, 1950 marking the beginning of a new era in
the history of India. The year 2015, the country is
celebrating 125th birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
The 'Constitution
Day' will be a part of these year-long nationwide celebrations. This will be a
tribute to Dr. Ambedkar , who played a seminal role in
the framing of the Indian Constitution as the Chairman of the Drafting
Committee of Constituent Assembly.
Details:
- The day is celebrated to value and preserve the rich
heritage of composite culture and to develop the scientific temper,
humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.
- To promote harmony and the spirit of common
brotherhood amongst all countrymen, to renounce practices derogatory to
the dignity of women.
- Constitution Day will work as a catalyst and the day
will also promote to protect and improve the natural environment including
forests, lakes, rivers and wild life and to have compassion for living
creatures.
Activities on Constitution
Day:
Activities like mock Parliament, essay and
debate competitions are being organised across the country on the occasion.
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has also asked the affiliated
schools to celebrate the day.
Nodal Agency to celebrate Constitution Day :
Ministry of Social
Justice and Empowerment is the Nodal Ministry for celebration of Constitution
Day.
